The Governing Body is made up of parents, members of the teaching and non-teaching staff, the Head teacher, LEA representatives and other members of the local community.
Their aim is to support the school by providing staff with the right tools to widen children’s knowledge and broaden their horizons. By working with the school and local community they believe they can provide a happy and stimulating environment where children can value themselves and others and where learning can flourish.
PTFA
There are good links between the parents and the school itself. The school has a Parent Teacher and Friends Association (P.T.F.A.) which is hardworking in giving financial support to the school. The PTFA runs various events throughout the year and is always looking for new members to help.
Parents give practical support too, by helping out in class with a variety of tasks and from time to time help out on school trips.
School Council
The School Council at Lakefield School meets once a month. It is made up of elected members from each class from year 1 to year 6 and has an important role to play in improving our school. The school council is very special because it gives the chance for children to share their ideas and have their say in their school. They learn how to debate and how to feed back to their peers.
Eco Council
The Eco-Council at Lakefield School meets every half term. It is made up of members from each class from year 2 to year 6 and has an important role to play in improving our school and local community. Since September the Eco Council have purchased a range of items such as a Bird Box, Eco suggestion boxes and plants for the quiet area. They are also in the middle of writing and evaluating our new action plan.
Curriculum
Lakefield School aims to give its pupils a wide variety of opportunities and experiences, so that they can make informed choices and decisions in the future. A wide range of educational experiences are planned in order to meet the individual needs of every child. Emphasis is placed on giving children direct experiences as stimuli to the teaching and learning process. The curriculum aims to be interesting, broad and relevant. The content of the curriculum is comprehensive and includes the requirements of the National Curriculum. The whole curriculum nurtures the child as an individual and provides the opportunity to develop intellectually, and at the same time develop an awareness of the community and fellow man, of the world and life.
